I have been getting this message every now and then. It seems to be happening more and more. Does anyone knpw anything about this? Thanks, Thomas

You need to bring up the codes stored in the DIC to help diagnose the problem. Have a pen and paper handy to write them down. Then post them here.
The "diagnostic display" mode is entered with the following procedure:
Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine. Press the "reset" button to turn off any warning messages Press and hold "options" and While holding "options", press "fuel" four times within a 10-second period.

I had the very same problem with my 2001 vert. it turned out to be a bad accelerometer. fixed under warrenty and located under the seat. However the codes will direct the troubleshooting

Two days ago while I was out cruising around in my 2000 A4 convert, I had this same message displayed on the DIC along with the "TCS car" icon showing on the instrument cluster. This occured right after I had completed a severe pedel-to-the-metal WOT passing maneuver around another car. I check the DIC codes when I got home....the following were displayed: TCS = C1282 SDM = U1040 SCM = B2605 and U1064
Also....when I started to pass the other car there was a noticable "pause" of about 1-2 seconds before the after-burner cut in....any reason for this hesitation during rapid acceleration????.....my Vette is pure stock except that I have replaced the original accordian throttle body air duct with a smooth coupler.

Hi there, GFC5, your 1282 is a code for the Yaw rate sensor, and should be diagnosed. It is important that this sensor function correctly, as your active handling will not function correctly, without this sensor. Besttoyou, c4c5

Thanks for the advice about checking into the yaw rate sensor situation....I will have it looked at.
Two additional quick questions:
1. Do you have any thoughts about the acceleration "hesitation" I experienced during the WOT passing....is it ignition, fuel, or just the auto tranny????
2. I looked up the idle relearn procedure in a set of 2000 Corvette service manuals (3 volumes) that I bought recently....and it's different than the post in the "Do It Yourself" section of this forum.....the manuals make no mention of removing fuses.....why so???

I was doing about 50-55 mph as I pulled around this car to pass...I put the gas pedal to the floor...I'm assuming WOT....my Vette accelerated momentarly....then, there was a very noticable "hesitation" of about 1-2 seconds....it almost felt like it stalled...no unusual sounds however...then she just came alive!!...the transmission sounded like it was downshifting out of overdrive....the RPMs skyrocketed...what a kick in the pants....by the time I swerved back into my lane I was doing close to 90-95+ mph...then the "Service Active HNDLG" message showed up on the DIC and the "TCS Car" icon came on in the instrument cluster.
As I mentioned earlier, I have a 2000 A4 stock except for a smooth air coupler....however, I have never performed an idle relearn procedure.

I got an error/warning message this weekend on my 2000 Coupe that stated:
Active Handling System Warming Up
Any thoughts on this?

I've had it happen to me in an autocross event, where I turned immediately after a rolling start, and never gave the system enough of a straight road to calibrate. The gong went off, which probably happened to you as well.

The Active Handling System (AHS) Warming Up message will come on when it is below 16F or if the calibration routine isn't complete. And it stays on until it warms up or the steering position is calibrated. During this time the AH will not be working.
The AHS requires a few seconds of driving straight during the first 30 seconds to calibrate the steering position sensor. If you are immediately turning when you start driving, it will take a little while for it to calibrate. Autocrossers have noticed this when they start their car at the line and immediately go into a turn. So, they have to start their car early and leave the engine running for a bit.
To determine the temperature, the AHS uses the Intake Air Temperature (IAT). If the sensor is loose or malfunctioning, the car will think it is too cold. Sometimes after an airbox installation this may occur.

Yes absolutely! This "hesitation" WAS simply the result of the Traction Control function kicking in!
Traction Control alleviates any perceived wheelspin condition (a rear wheel spinning faster than a front wheel) by reducing power. This lasts until the observed condition (= perceived wheelspin) goes away. The effect is somewhat like a very dramatic "lifting".
