I'm planning to change my pads and rotors on my 99' vette and was wondering if it's difficult doing it yourself with the tire pressure sensor involved or is there any instructions on net on how to change them, if so are there things I should look out for when cahanging them? or should I let the professionals do the work? Thank You.

I just did my pads/rotors/lines for the first time on my own (I was always the one pushing the pedal) and it wasn't bad at all. The tire sensors are part of the valve stem, so they don't have anything to do with a brake job.

Here are a few links that will help:

http://www.crossedflags.com/nuke/html/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=45&mode=&order=0&thold=0

A few tips I got/figured out along the way:

-open the bleeder BEFORE you compress the old pads with the C-clamp, this will prevent the old fluid from going back into the lines and prevent any seals from being pushed the wrong way

-a dead-blow hammer will help in loosening the caliper bracket bolts (they are factory torqued to 125 ft/lb and have red loctite on them)

-take the time to remove/clean/re-grease the caliper pin bolts, just be aware that the synthetic caliper pin grease is about $12 a bottle

-make sure the parking brake is OFF before removing the rear rotors or you may find yourself trying to get the spring back in (you don't want that)

-I painted my calipers black while I had them off with a brush-on paint kit, if you want to paint yours I would strongly recommend a SPRAY-ON kit

[Cheers]
