Long shot could be low freon this is another cheap fix attempt that I would try before pulling the dash apart.

Well I finally gave up on figuring this problem out and took the car to the shop and here's what we found out. The motor for the pass. side was not working, replaced with a new unit now I've got cold air both sides. The remaining problem seems to be the head control unit will not work in the auto. mode and in manuel mode I only have high and low fan speeds. So far I have not been able to locate a used control unit and a new unit is pricey.
