I didn't have runflats on my c5 z06 and I got a flat..

I took a kmart air pump and a $2 tire plug kit..

Pumped up the air in the tire. Found the hole in the tire. Marked it. Twisted the plug into the tire hole....put the air pump on..and was good to go..

Took me longer to type this than it took to fix the flat.

Fwiw..I suggest toyo proxis for around 700 delivered. I had goodyears, michelin pilots and the toyo proxis. I recommend the toyos...

If you want contact these guys and let them know you saw them on the corvette site.

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Air pump and plug from Kmart or walmart. 20 bucks..

I was so impressed I'll be getting toyos when my runflats wear out on my new C6. thats how impressed I was with them.

Have fun and enjoy the silky new ride. The transformation was really impressive on my 1999 c5 when I went from runflats to nonrunflats..

All my C5's did not have run flats, took them off the two convertibles and both Z06's did not come with them. I carried a small compressor, two cans of Fix-a-Flat and a plug kit, never had an issue, but it was piece of mind. [Smile]

As for me, I'm on my second set of run flats. I have a heart condition and a bad back, so I can't be struggling with a tire that's flat. Also, I'm pretty happy with the ride and performance I get from these tires. I know there are probably better performing tires that are non run flats out there, but as far as I'm concerned, these tires are the best all around, however somewhat pricey.

I had non runflats on my 98 but the 04 has runflats, but I've only had a flat in the 98. Found a nail and went straight to the tire shop.

Ive had non run flats on without issue and would never go back to the flintstone tires the C5 came with. I got flats with run flats and it aint pretty what happens when you ride em flat. The car is sooo much better with non runflats. Yes you could get screwed and be stuck somewhere but that can happen with runflats too. Night and day difference but I understand some situations require being conservative whatever best of luck

Went to non-run flats and will not go back to those very hard run flats. The ride, handling and less noise is great. Makes the Corvette ever a better sports car and a very enjoyable experience. Have the plug kit, compressor, jack and cell phone. If anyone wants a spare tire to make you feel safer, then I heard the spare tire that comes with the C-4 will fit the C-5 and it is a space saver. Just a thought.

I replaced the run flats with a set of Goodrich all-season touring, same speed rating. I like them a lot--much quieter, w/good ride and handling. At 38psi, they felt skittish and I didn't like the handling. Dropping to 31 cured all that.

I bought a neat little compressor/sealant unit made by Continental from Tire Rack. It sits in one of the rear bins--nice to know it's there when you're out in the boondocks.
