Hi, Just found out that after only 13,000 miles my torque converter took a s**t. The bill seems to come around $1,800.00 What a surprise. The car has not beed rodded or raced and I was told
that "This just happens". I bought it with no
warranty from a private party that I know also did no rodding. In your opinion is this a normal happening and how abnormal is the price?
Looking forward to any and all replies.
Thanks in advance and Happy Vettin' [Frown] [Mad] & [Confused]

Sounds like someone's been steppin' on the brake with the left foot and flooring the gas pedal with the other. Seriously, anything that's mechanical can brake down. You will never know what caused the malfunction. You can ask the mechanic what he thinks. Fix it and don't worry about it. Good luck! I assume you have no warranty still active. Get a few quotes on the repair if it makes you feel better. I'd bring it to Chevy if it was me.

Thanks bados: I realize that anything mechanical can and at some time will break. BUT WHY FOR ME??
I have done just as you suggested about getting the quotes. Plus, my work is going to get done by a GM dealer and using GM parts. And so it goes. Just when my wife and I are going to
Las Vegas on Monday. Do you suppose I have used up all of my s**t luck and can come home with more than we left with? More than likely not. But a vacation is a vacation.

Happy Mororing and Keep on Vettin' (not bettin')

Hey PHLYNLO, I hope you have better luck than me in Vegas. As for me, if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck. Enjoy the trip. Don't worry about the car...s--t happens. Sometimes they fix it better than new.

Sounds like a lot of money???,I had my tranny pulled and reinstalled for $600. Best of luck with the job with your low miles there is nothing else to suggest you have done while you have the tranny out. Vegas will supply the funds for the repair.
