My Z06 developed a severe misfire while I was driving at normal highway speed.
It has set a P0106 code.
The engine is running rough enough that it will stall at idle RPM.
Have checked all fuses.
Any suggestions.
Appreciate any help.

P0106 indicates a problem with the MAP sensor. Do you have any modifications to your car? I'd check the wiring and the connection of the sensor to the intake manifold to start.

No mods.
Will check the wiring as you suggest.
Thanks,
Jim

You might want ot check you spark plugs and wires. Something could be fouled out. [Save the Wave!]

That wouldn't set a P0106 code. It would set a missfire code, if anything.

How many miles are on this car?

If you are close to 100,000 I would suspect the plugs and wires. I never leave mine in until 100K regardless of what the manf states they can last for.

Plugs and wires if it is NOT a MAP sensor issue that is...

Only have about 16,000 miles, so i don't think it is pugs or wires. The miss is more than one or two cylinders as it stops running when just idling.

Wires can come off real easily and mileage is not a factor. I would make sure you have a good single click on each plug and a double click above.

Also ask over at www.corvettemechanic.com Those guys specialize in these types of issues.

Good luck

We actually thought the catalytic on that side was plugged. The exhaust coming out on that side was cool and not nearly as much.
We exchanged the whole center section of the exhaust with that of a friends 2003 Z06 and expected the problem to be gone. We thought if that cleared up the problem proving a defective catalytic it would be covered under warranty as the catalytics are covered up to 8 years or 80,000 miles. Ran the same way so had to keep looking, then heard the noise from the engine. removed the valve cover and found the broken spring.
