Anybody use K&N filters, specifically their oil filters? What is your opinion of them?

I use the K & N oil filter and have for the last 3 years in my Vettes. I had read and article that they were fairly free flowing but I can't remember where I read it.

I've been using them for years. Quality/performance wise they are above average (so I've read), but I like them more because of the nut than anything else.

[Cheers]

jrose: What I like most about the 'The Nut' is the un-installation. I wish more of the companies would use that feature also. I usually don't have any problem tightening the filters, it's the getting them loose again.

Both install and uninstall is equally appealing that is true. Or no muss, no fuss if you will.

I have heard that K&N oil filters are good but I use the AC Delco Duraguard and have had no problems. But I change my oil once a year because I put btw 3,000 and 4,500 miles a year. I have the K&N air filter and it works great and gave me more power. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

They should sell a cleaning and oiling kit. Just make sure not to put on too much oil as it could ruin the MAF sensor.

You can clean it in a bucket with a mixture of Simple Green and water. Use a soft brush. Let it dry completely then re-oil with a mixture of mineral oil and alcohol in a spray bottle. Don't over oil.
