I was driving my vette, when all of the sudden it started overheating. It went all the way to 255 degrees. so i pulled over as soon as possible, and i started smelling radiator coolant while in the process of pulling over. Turned off the engine as soon as i could. But it was too late, radiator fluid started draining. I added water to it. turned it back on, and noticed the coolant fan wasnt working. Turned it off cause it started to get hot again. Called tow truck, and took it to a corvette specialists. Im still waiting for them to call me. My question is, do you guys have an idea what went wrong and how much would it cost to fix it. I mean just an estimate. Thanks you guys. Posts: 26 | From: Downey, CA | Registered: May 2007

It could be a fuse, relay, wiring, fan itself, etc. You really can't make a specific diagnosis based on the information provided.

If the car was moving when it first overheated it may just be a stuck thermostat (under $50). The fans aren't needed to keep the car cool while it's in motion.

Good point. It could also be something got sucked up and blocked the radiator.

Chewy, you could be right. I just got a call from my mechanic. He said the fans are working. So it might be the thermostat. Their going to replace it and take the car for a spin. He told me he was going to call me to see how that goes. Thanks for the replys guys .
