Just had trans fluid (and pan gasket) changed at local shop. They used Dexron 6.... Temp went to 210 with moderate driving in 83 ambient.

Too high?

Found the answer myself in previous post(s). I knew I'd seen it somewhere and after pokin around I found it.... and 210 is not too high.

Is the temperature a lot higher than what you were seeing previously?

Hi Bruce, I've had the car only 6 weeks; first vette. Can't say for sure about previous temps. Although I've scrolled through and seen the fluid temps a number of times I don't recall what they were. I just started to pay attention after the fluid/gasket change.

I did the change because there was a small leak and didn't know if/when it had been changed before... but more importantly I didn't want it to run low. So now I'm confident that the level is okay and there's a post from c4c5specialist (member #458) from 3/27/03 that tells about temps.

The 210 was just once, yesterday, but now I'll watch it for a while.

Thanks JRose, Many many answers on the C5 Forum. Drove the car today; "moderate" driving, lower ambient today (78), trans fluid 190-195.

Me thinks all is well.
