Whats up, guys? My name is Brooks, Im a student at UTI in Houston and looking into my next car. Right now Im in between a C5 Z06 and a Lotus Elise.
Z06: more liveable as a DD, better power stock, more potential for power aftermarket, less expensive.
Elise: Lighter, more nimble, much more Spartan, can be ordered without all the whistles, gadgets and doo-dahs, not so god damn many of them on the road like a Z06.
What do you guys think???

The Lotus didnt come to America until 2005 tho. So you cant get them that old. 2005s go for ~30k.

I've owned both a Lotus (Europa) and a couple of Corvettes, and I think that I would probably prefer the Vette to the Lotus. I've raced an Elise (well, autocrossed) and autocrossed and tracked my Corvettes and I know that at least I am faster in my Vette than a Lotus. The Lotus does seem to be awfully fragile, also, which is a side effect of that light weight.

Not a big fan of the Europa. I find it hard to believe that your vette beats a Lotus in auto-x. Honestly, I believe the 'vette is a better vehicle in every way. But there's just so damn many of them.

There are only a handful of cars in the country, that I am aware of, that have ~1000hp (at the flywheel). You need very deep pockets if that is your goal.

I agree with J.B. Go for the Lotus.

The Europa made the Elise look like a porker. Shipping weight for mine was listed as 1275 pounds.
The Vette accelerates better than the Elise and I think generates more cornering force, but the Elise changes direction like a bat, so it would be course dependent. At the Solo Nationals, the Vette has finished 3rd last two years to a Lotus and a GT3 with those two swapping wins. That is on a fairly tight slippery surface and any of them could have taken the win with a little luck.
