I am new to the Corvette, and would like to find more info on what model had the best computer programming. Have been told that the 04 has more of a tendency to blow codes for air to fuel issues as they had the computer limits tighter. If that is so there must be a "Good Year" and if the computers will accept a FLASH from another year, what would that year be?

Thanks for any help! Love my Z06!

I have a 2004 and have never had any problem with the stock tune nor have I ever heard of anyone else having a problem with the factory tune. My suggestion if to find a competent tuner with a dyno in your area, have him store your stock program and then tune your car on the dyno. You should pick up some HP and additional torque and it is usually worth the money for what you get if you go with a good tuner. Take some time and look around for the right one and you will be pleased with the results.

You know..I try to be good, really I do, but these "one post wonders" chap my old, fat ass. Why take all the time, and trouble to join a forum, post a question and then never bother to reply when you get an answer. This is exactly why I almost never reply to a newby post. This time I broke my rule. Won't happen again. [Mad]

OK I just got to my computer from a weeks business trip, and I will take the heat. Not looking for a "miracle" but I have trouble with a responce like this "I have a 2004 and have never had any problem with the stock tune nor have I ever heard of anyone else having a problem with the factory tune."
Why then would anyone have it tuned on a dyno?

The modifying of the "Stock Flash" to change the stock A/F ratio settings at certain RPM's is what I understand is accomplished to change the "Stock" setting to adjust for Mods such as Air Intake and Exhaust enhancements.

So please correct my MISS understandings?
Dennis

Nice reply MIAMI. Without NEWBIES this forum will not last long and certainly not evoke the conversation and feedback that it is intended to do. Imagine starting a forum and not letting any NEWBIES in. One would be talking to themselves an awful lot. I think this is a great fourm and I hope I can ad to it at some point vs. getting information.

All years of c5 are computer tune friendly..

I don't think 2004 was tougher to tune than any others...

The automatic transmission respond well to tunes and make the cars more fun to drive..

Obviously you want a tuner who knows his stuff..

I'm not retuning my 08 ls3 m6 but if I did a supercharger down the road...I would have the tuner do his stuff..

I like the options of having an additional 36 months 36 k miles drivetrain warranty too...

I had two 2000 convertibles, a 2002 Z06 and a 2003 Z06, all were LS1 Edit dyno tuned, never had an issue with any of them after tuning. [Smile]

I do not have a Z but my A4 99 coupe responded tremendously to a PCM tune. There is a lot left out of the stock program to comply with regulations. I liken it to the old getting the dwell and timing just right in the olden days. I just dont see/get the advantage/benefit to a dyno tune. The Vette Doctors from NY set up a tune booth at Corvettes at Carlisle and for $125 my Corvette was tuned to perfection. No other mod returned the performance bang for the buck. I think the key is to get somebody that has mastered the tuning process by doing alot of them. Go for it! I can see no downside to this improvement. Welcome and stop bye often we all benefit from this forum new and old members [Cheers]
