Purchased a 2002 Z06 with only 26,000 miles that only had one owner. I also have 69 350/350 convertible. The 69 had a portion of the VIN stamped on the motor, transmission, rear end and frame. Does the Z06 follow the same procedure? I did find the VIN number on the passenger side main rail support at the front. Are other components stamped?
Thanks for any comments, Steve

There are primary and the secondary locations of the VIN derivative on the rear of the engine block on all C5's including Z06s. Also, there are primary, secondary, and optional serial numbers on locations on the transmission. You should find "stick-on" labels attached to the engine, laser etching, or stampings in the engine block indicate the engine unit number/build date code. Also the engine ID number will be located on the rear of LH cylinder head or the front part of LH oil pan rail. There are more legible when viewed from underneath the car.

Thanks for the information. The 69 is a 'matching number car' and I was curious about the newer cars. On the passenger side front of the block was a stamp pad for the 69 numbers. Similar pad on the 2002 with nothing on it, so I was interested to know if there should have been a number there. The Z06 is an awesome car! Thanks Again, Steve
