C6 remote key story that should make you laugh
Do I feel a little stupid? Sure but what the hell...here goes..
So I've owned this new c6 since november 15th...
and the other day I'm leaving the car, I lock it and then I remember I need to put something back in the car...The car doors are unlocked..
I'm like wtf?
I'm going for an entire day trying to figure out what is going on..
Did I blow a fuse? Did the motor burn out on the door locking mechanism..
I can lock and unlock the door from the inside but leave the car and the doors never seem to lock..
I call onstar twice...get disconnected....and connected to Chevy headquarters..Put on hold...for what seems like a hell of a long time...
No body knows..
I'm like sh!t...I have to go to the health club to work out...then shopping at the hardware store, then shopping at the mall for the wife for mothers day and I can't lock the car...
I'm on the phone with onstar and they connect me to Chevy headquarters who disconnects me a few times.. call back..and a total waste of time....
I go to the trunk open up the owners manual , read the various pages and see nothing about how to fix this unlockable car...
I'm like fuc it...if it gets stolen I'll just buy a new one..Go about my day parking where ever and figuring whose going to steal a vette in the rain...
Each time trying for a few minutes to lock the car before going inside during the day....but no luck..
So at the end of the day....I pull into the garage...and go inside the house...
Throw my keys down on the desk in the house and then a few minutes later I go in the garage to get something out of the car and lo and behold the cars is locked tight...
Seems if I have the keys in my pocket the car unlocks itself as you walk up to it...
Who knew?
Anyways the whole day of travelling I'm like dam...the cars breaking already and it ended up that was the way the car was designed...
Guess I should have watched the owners manual DVD?
I thought this was a funny story. Hope you enjoyed it.
Great sports car by the way. Truly enjoy the refinement and speed. Very impresed with driving this sports car.

Who can argue with that logic
I set my DIC 'greeting' for fob #2 to read "35 MPH LIMIT ENGAGED" since that fob is reserved for others who might have a reason to be in the car. I figured it might deter an unwanted joy ride if the guys at mt local tire shop got bored and decided to give the car an unneeded test drive.
A few months ago, after a long afternoon of experimenting with the lighting systems (while trying to figure out the best/easiest way to get all 6 of the lights to come on at once) I was a bit concerned about how low my battery was. The car started right up, but I completely forgot that I had fob #2 in my pocket. Since it had been quite a while since I even looked at that fob I was more than a little concerned when my 35 MPH LIMIT ENGAGED message showed up.
Talk about a sinking feeling in your stomach, WOW! While the battery charged up a bit I spent 10 minutes or so trying to figure out how I fried the PCM, then reluctantly went for a drive to see how 'limited' the car was. I didn't even make it around the block before I realized the message that had me so freaked out was the one that I put in there
I'm now considering changing the fob #2 message to LOJACK ACTIVE
