It is definately the price that holds off the younger buyers. Everytime I go cruising with my top down, there's always some kid younger than me in an integra/civic that yells "thats your dad's car!" I just smile and cruise on... Mainly got it cause, I had friends buying srt4's, sti's, evo's, 02> cobra's, z28's...etc and spending alot of $$$ just to get to 300-350hp...so i figured whats the best baaang for my buck without many mods??..nonetheless... But now, maybe with the new vararam I ordered, I should have the srt4 out of my site instead of being neck to neck after his $5-6k worth of mods. Posts: 57 | From: Houston | Registered: Apr 2007

Age 60 with 2004 Coupe and 82 Coupe both white and pretty much stock. As someone told me when I said I was thinking about buying a Vette, what's there to think about, it is the only American sports car ever made, it will run 180 mph if you have a desire to, you will be able to outrun 99.9% of all the vehicles that pull up beside you, and the car will get 28 mpg on the highway, SO WHAT'S THERE TO THINK ABOUT. Most fun I've had in years. The 04 is the most fun to drive but ohh the looks the 82 gets.

I bought my first Corvette in 1991, when I was 21, it was a white 84. Bought my second Corvette (my current one) in 2004, at age 34. I hope to buy a C6 before I turn 40! (although it'll most likely be a few years after that)

I'm 37 & this 99 M6 is our first vette. I bought it for the wife as a Christmas present. for the first week or so she said it's a boy toy it's not really hers. well now to date she has logged over 8k miles (since Christmas) & already talking about a 03 spiral grey one when she graduates. she's not to keen on the C6 body style.

It was loaded w/all the options when i went to see it and had only 11k miles. When the Guy opened the Garage and I saw it didn`t even ask for a Test drive-just said I will be back with a check and left him my Credit card as a Deposit. He said I was the first one to see the car (Tuesday)he posted the ad on Sunday....When I went back on Thursday he said he got probably 50 phonecalls in a day and had to tell them it was SOLD.Advertised for $27.599 Took the train to go pick it up and I was sooo happy do drive back in a CORVETTE and rumbled the engine on every Light and had all eyes on ME....Very very satisfied with the purchase

I'm 57 now, and have had my triple black 6-sp '01 vert for a little over 3 years now. This is my third Vette, a retirement present from me to me.
My first one was a '70 vert, dk green w/ saddle interior, 350/300 4-sp, which was purchased used in 1971 for $3250 when I was 21.
My second Vette was a '73 coupe, L-82 4-sp purchased in '74 for $5500. Ontario Orange w/saddle interior. Held that one until mid '77 when I got married. Sold it to put a downpayment on our first (and current) house - it was either sell the Vette or the engagement ring, so you can guess who won that debate! :-)
I agree with a lot of others, it's gotta be the price that's holding a lot of young buyers back. I paid almost the same for my '01 that the house cost - of course that was 30 yrs ago. Perhaps it's all relative - all things go up in price over time.

I am 64.....(so far I'm the oldest in here) I bought my new 1966 vette when I was 23. I traded it for a new 1969 vert when they came out. A few years later got married and kissed the Vettes good-bye for 28 years.......Still had the fever.....got a 2000 coupe than a 2004 coupe. I will never be Vette-less again.

Let those guys blow up transmissions, half shafts and heads from their mods as they seek 500 HP; your car is built that way and can take it right out of the box.
Your friend is not comparing apples to apples with his $5-$6000 in mods versas a stock Vette. If you put a $5,000 twin Turbo in your car you would spank him so bad it would not be funny!
I could never figure out why people spend $500 for a used Honda and dump $30,000 into it when they could have a used Vette and then mod it a little if they wanted.
I just had mine Dyno'ed and with my mods I am pulling in 330 HP and 340 TQ at the wheels. I did not spend $5,000 to mod it either (just a little over a grand) and all work was done myself.
