The bulbs are powered by the individual wires plugged into the back of them:
The motor is controlled by the flat grey plug under the manual knob:
According to the one schematic that I have scanned (I sold my C5 manuals) the LH motor is controlled by the DARK GREEN and LIGHT GREEN wires in that plug, but check them all for 12V by using a ground point somewhere else on the car. Here's the catch, you might have to get someone else to cycle the headlight switch since the power to the motor goes away after a few seconds (at least if it's working properly).

Since it's an intermittant problem it wouldn't be the fuse. If you have power but the motor doesn't move, then most likely the motor is about to go out for good. There are other possibilities, but other than bad grounds none are very likely, and if it was a ground issue you'd probably be having lots of other troubles also.
If you don't have power getting to the motor I'd have to guess that it's the headlamp door control module (mounted under/behind the RH headlight on the vertical wall).

Look at the grounds link above. Clean off the two plugs next to your hood shocks and the battery ground (pictured in the link in post #68). Once you know those aren't the cause of your problems you can start looking for bad components.

Those grounds could be the cause for ALL of your problems, only the ABS/TCS is usually intermittant (like your headlight) if it's caused by the ground.

Try turning the knob to help the light raise. There is a rubber bushing inside where the gear is that gets fouled up. My money is on the gear/bushing. I could be wrong right? but this costs you nothing and new parts aren't cheap. The modules and motors seldom go bad. Have your woman turn on the headlights while you listen to the motor if it spins if the knob turns you need to rebuild not a big job. Good luck
