I'm thinking about installing Flowmasters in my stock 2000 Coupe 5.7. I'm looking for a sound similar to the stock Mustangs out there without disturbing the California Highway Patrol or the neighbors. As to Mustangs - no, I don't want to sound like a Mustang, just get a more throaty sound - like the stock Mustangs have and the stock Corvettes don't.
Any thoughts on which series: 40, 50, 80, etc.? Any thoughts on the street legal issue?

I don't know why you would want to sound like a Mustang. But my suggestion is Borla Quad Stingers. You won't disturb the HP or your neighbors unless you open the throttle. Good luck on your choice and have fun.

I don't think that you can make your Vette sound like a Mustang. It's the firing order that makes the Corvette sound different than any other car. I've heard a C5 with Flowmasters and I'd have to say that it wasn't bad.

Borla Stingers are the way to go if you want throaty muscle sound. They sound great at idle or just cruising but when you open them up they talk. Also go with an X-pipe, it gives alittle more HP and also helps the sound even more. Good Luck!

The problem with the vette exhaust is that you can't easily just cut out the old mufflers and install new ones. You need to buy an entire cat-back system.
That being said, if you can find some that fit the 50 series is what you'd want. That's what I have on the C6 and it sounds very similar to the way the Borla Stingers did on the C5.

I have an old ChrisCraft with new 5.7mpis in it so I went to Corsa Pace Car with an Xpipe. Yah, I know sounds like a boat but I love it!!
