I was just thinking...what a 35 MPG Corvette might look like.
It may be as small as a Miata with a hybrid motor. Body still could be made out of fiberglass or some other composite. The last time we were "Naderized" the motors became anemic. Maybe there won't be a Corvette. What do you think? Evolution or revolution?

What will it take to get 35?

I have a feeling that also DRIVING "35" MPH will possibly be just around the corner. what a rush that would be!! [Banging Head] [Mad] Keep the faith fellow Corvette owner/drivers I feel a wind of change coming and probably won't be good.
It may just be that our present Corvettes may just be that hottest ticket in years to come.

I know it's not exactly the kind of response your looking for but...

Few years back I ran thru a tank during a road trip in my '01 MN6 coupe. Cedar Rapids, IA to Columbus, OH (very flat). Over 550mi, all at once, all freeway, cruise set at 70mph solid, A/C off. DIC for that tank recorded 35.5 mpg, I manually calculated it at 34.5 mpg.

gotta luv these cars!!

If you have a 6-speed and want to have some fun with the MPG's showing on your DIC try this:

Next time you have a long straight stretch all to yourself, put the car in 4th and floor it until you run out of nerve. The instantaneous MPG rating will be in the low single digits. Now push in the clutch, get off the gas, and watch the MPG's shoot up to 99.

How about a new Corvette engine: LSP (propane)?

On a 280 mile trip home of mostly straight and flat road we got 36mpg...no joke! Of course there were lots o' cops about so I had to stay around the speed limit in sixth. The DIC must have been accurate because I got almost 600 miles on that tank. And people think that Vettes are guzzlers [Confused]

In the "near" FUTURE when we get our FLYVETTE and be able to travel to other planets there will be a 35MPG Vette-ofcourse the GAS will be a secondary fuel source by then [Smile]

It might happened pretty soon actually-with all the technology that is coming out but the question is: Are the Carmakers willing to do it and don`t rely on the OIL-because lets face it some of them are in business with the OIL companies its like cutting the CORD of an unborn child.......

That is one thing that I am very surprised they don't advertise about the Corvette, that the gas milage on the highway is finominal! I have no trouble doing 35mpg in 6th with the cruise set. I drive it more than my 6 cyl Cherokee, or 6 cyl Grand Am.
Come to think of it, the North Star in my STS gets great milage on the highway too.

My Vette gets way better mileage than my PT Cruiser.
