Hey fellas, I just got my FIRST speeding ticket in the CORVETTE(3rd so far).....it was a Sunday eve around 7pm and the traffic was medium to moderate.I was driving in the fast lane but "THEY" werent moving fast enough so I decided to go around and take the slowest lane-since it was moving faster than the others...it was a 5 lane hghwy so I saw an "OPENING" wide open from my lane to the Fast lane and I FLOORED it-safely that is paying attention to other vehicles too, soon enough I hit probably close to 140mph and I just saw a vehicle pulling fast into my lane and speeding up it was about half a mile behind me-it was an unmarked cruiser.I guess he was on the onramp and saw me pull away fast so got after me.I knew what was coming so i slowed down to 65 and switched lanes and "soon" he pulled behind me and put the DISCO lights-PARTY TIME [Smile] . I pulled over to the shoulder and he comes to me and smiling asking: You know why I pulled you over-Speed.Whats the rush for? I just said No rush [Smile] . He told me he did 90 when I pulled "away" from him and guessed I was doing probably close to 130-I just smurfed and he said ok,ok maybe 110-120 and said he was gonna cite me and "ill just PUT 90 on the ticket" and told me that he also had a few back in the days so he hands me the citation and says: ....and slow down at least when I am behind you :)with a smile on his face-I am actually gonna fight the ticket because he didnt put a cruiser number so could not calibrate his vehicles speedometer that he used that day-and he didnt use a RADAR, I was paced-wish me luck

I just wanted to share this story with you guys that happened last Sunday it might help someone and if anybody needs help after i`m done let me know I`ll let you know how it went down-I got a few tips on how to CONTEST your citations weather is Speed,Red light or similar infractions.....

Good luck with contesting it. I hate to brag but about a month ago I was clocked at 95 in a 55 (two lane curvy highway). As soon as I saw the cop I just pulled over--a little trick I learned from my brother. I got away with a warning. [Devil Smile]

Here in Florida we have a bunch of lawyers that got together to form the "Ticket Justice System." Just pay them $ 80.00 (not sure of the price now) and they'll get you off, no record, no points and no driving school. See if they have something like that in CA. Good luck!

This site can come in handy for locating traps. There's a link to info on fighting tickets in the left column. Good Luck.

your gonna hate me!! I was a cop for 8 years. and your actual infraction was "operating a vehicle in a manner not reasonable and proper." Just a couple of notches below the reckless ticket. Oklahoma Law. I quit that job and got one that allows me to afford my vette, and I often find myself breaking the afformentioned! In my state that one is hard to beat. It really sounds like the best ticket you could have got, sorry!

I think you are correct-but what have I got to lose unless I try and beat the system I wont know. I believe that since I wasnt clocked in he didn`t really have proof that i was going that fast it was just a "visual estimate" and the fact there is no record of the cruiser on the ticket-wont be able to show proof of calibration of the vehicle used.Wishing and hoping I guess [Smile]
