How fast have you had your C5? I have been reading alot about 0-60 and 1/4 mile times is anyone else interested in how fast this car will go Top end? Not theory but actual "seen it on the speedo".I have seen 157mph on the PA turnpike with lots left in the car but too much construction, traffic and "smokies" to keep my old leadfoot in her.Have heard of 176+ What's your story. How fast will she go? ![[Rotate]](graemlins/rotate2.gif)

70 mph! That's the speed limit in California. I dropped the clutch and smoked the tires. My foot to the floor, wham blam, slammed her into 2nd - kabloom - 70 mph - flying down road - then I shifted into 3rd - 70 mph - 4th - 70 mph - 5th 70 mph - 6th - 70 mph - the engine racing at 1600 rpm. It was fast and scary! Woooooooey! The wierd thing about that run was that I never even pulled the car out of the garage! What's up with that? [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: fido ]

I've had mine up up to 140MPH. I had to blow by my brother. I gave him a head start. He got the Impala up to 120 MPH when I blew by him like he was standing still at 140 MPH. Good times, good fun. Both cars had plenty more top end in them, we just opted to let out at these speeds.

"The wierd thing about that run was that I never even pulled the car out of the garage! "LOL! ============================================ According to the speedo? Well. that may be a problem and not as accurate as one can get. I've had RDT calculation to an average of 182mph, somewhere in the east/west Deserts of California.

I hit 170 on the beltway around Houston one night. There were 5 bikes racing me from a pay booth. They smoked me until about 120 mph then they just tried to keep up. Anyways I did not see them again that night because I thought im already here might as well see what it can do. I got to 170 and chickened out. Don’t think I will do that again on a Houston freeway. Car sure felt good at high speeds.

The fastest I have gone is 90 mph on the freeway. Here in Southern California in the San Fernando Valley there is not much room to go fast. Unless I go out to Palmdale or something.

Hit 140+ one time at VIR on the back straight. Lots left in the car, and my exit speed out of the corner leading to the straight sucked. I lifted to save brakes. Next time I'm there I may try a single run where I keep my foot in it to see where I can get to before I run out of pavement. -Matt

145 in TN. -- in fourth gear with 1500 rpm before red-line. I let off, just to fast for the freeway -- it definately had plenty left.

165 on a deserted stretch in MI last summer. It was still pulling strong when I had two visions. One of a deer running out and the other of myself standing in front of a judge trying to explain 100mph over the limit, so I backed off.

That is what has kept me from seeking the Top End is What would you tell the trooper or the judge? Anyone thought of a good line? A way to get out of what must be one mother of a ticket? Anyone gotten nabbed at obscene speed? Heard that if you get a ticket and pay 2-3 $ more than the fine and never cash the refund check that the citation just spins in their system and you do not get assessed the points. truth of fiction?
