J.B. Full Throttle Member Registered: 12/02/00 Posts: 10326 Loc: North East	I believe the SSR vortec V8 aluminum engine will be expanded to 6.0 or 6.4 liters on for the new C6...2004 model year.. Thats the ticket. Aluminum 6.0 or 6.4 liter engine for the C6..Vortec engine based as in the new Chevy SSR. This weeks autoweek mag does article on cool SSR production version..thats the basis of my conjecture. 370-380 hp for C6 2004 _________________________ 2008 Black/blk C6 Z51 NPP M6 2008 Silver/blk CTS FE2 AWD 304hp

Power to weight ratio of the first year zo6.. definitely a strong performer.. 2005 will be 450 hp 6.4 liter motor..ZO6.. This car will rock and roll.. I just read a blurb on the C5net that Lutz did an interview with cnbc from the Detroit auto show where he was asked about the next vette and Lutz said it would be lighter, a willing performer, updated looks, but it would not make C5 owners feel like second class citizens. Very interesting! Dang, no sequential shifter was mentioned!!

The correlation to the SSR is that both it and the proposed C6 motor will be aluminum. 370-380hp for standard C6 and the following year..you'll see 450 hp for the zo6 version.. _________________________ 2008 Black/blk C6 Z51 NPP M6 2008 Silver/blk CTS FE2 AWD 304hp

I just think that by having different engine platforms, Chevy is really turning off many customers (such as myself) who don't want the hardtop but want the better engine. The least they could do is make the Z06 engine an option for the coupe and convertable. It's ridiculous to not allow this.
