8300K Dual high & low beam; euro H4 lamps caseing.
I really like them. The high beam is odd though, it uses the same bulb as the low beam, & refocuses it. gives a wierd smooth transistion between hi-lo.
the low is great! I can see!!!!!!!!! the high is unusual; it sends out a "circle" beam meaning the outside of the beam is lit well, but the middle is still rather dark. -Any suggestions? why is this doing this, how to fix?
as far as brightness, they are wonderful. I have been used to silverstars. I realize that they are brighter, but I would have to reinstall the silverstars to actually realize what kind of increase I get (my eyes are wierd like that, don't know what I have till I've lost it.)
The detail the lights bring out is something I didn't expect, or realize I was missing until now. There is something very different about what you see with these beams compared with halogens.
I AM glad I got the 8300K; b/c even though they are probably not as bright as the "daylight" versions, the blue tint is an additive that more than makes it up. I like the look of them, and they are bright enough.
After these bulbs burn up; where do I get new ones? & can I change color if I really want to? to say 12000K or back to daylight?

please goto http://www.hidforum.com for more information on color temperatures, how they effect visibility and what OEM uses. If the dual beam bulb is one of those w/ a tiny tinted halogen bulb, it isnt true dual beam HID

I have tried 4200, 5400, 6000 & 8000K bulbs, the brightest HID is a 4200K bulb, but the others colors looked good.

If the dual beam bulb is one of those w/ a tiny tinted halogen bulb, it isnt true dual beam HID It isn't; The single HID bulb actually shifts in place. I figured the daylight bulbs were brighter. I will probably try that next; in four years! Carl, do you have the duals as well; what kind of spread do your highs have? Is it a spot or a highly diffused beam?

Which kit did you use? I am interested to try the CATZ H4 kit (4300K) but I wanted to know from some of the folks here if there were any issues surrounding the T84's and HID's like lack of projectors or something like that.
Congrats on your HID's I can only wait until I can make that mod...
Cheers, Chris

I used a Hella kit.
Not sure what you mean by T84's; I'm not up on part numbers.

OK, T84s are the lamps.. no there weren't many issues.. I cut the rubber skirt to make it more flush with the lamp & taped the surround. other than that it seems ok..
The lows work really well, however it seems like there might be something missing from the highs..
What is this "projectors"; that you say we don't have?

If you look at an OEM HID kit you usually see a round lens that sits in front of the bulb that is not necessarily the headlight lens. I think this is used to focus the beam from the reflector and may be used with auto-levelling systems as well. I don't think that it is needed for our setup since the headlamp lens is designed with the cutoff, but I wonder about it since the T84 headlamp was designed for halogens. I am getting ready to buy a CATZ setup, since from what I've seen all the others don't have as much stuff included. It just seems more proefessional than other kits. Too bad CATZ doesn't sell them anymore. Originally posted by Iamlost: OK, T84s are the lamps.. no there weren't many issues.. I don't know anything about the CATZ setup.
Here's the deal, if you are getting a lowbeams only kit, don't worry about the projectors. The lowbeams work well.. if you get the dual like i did.. You might want to do some research on the projectors (& tell me wha tyou find). The high beams are unusually dispersed and if the projectors aim the beam at all, it would help.

Cheers, Chris Have been using Philips HID kit with T84 lens for last two years. Have had no problems with lack of projection. If you properly adjust beam you will love HID lights

I have the CATZ kit coming in shortly.
There's not much to choose from these days considering the ban on HID kit manufacturers that happened around last october.
I ended up getting a CATZ H4 Bi-Xenon (high/low) 5500K setup. It's a bit more blue in color than I wanted but I couldn't find the 4300K kits anywhere. It shouldn't be too bad though and it's only 200 less lumens than the 4300K kit. I can also swap the bulbs out for the 4300K bulbs (if I can find them).
For those of you who don't know the CATZ kits are completely plug and play. I might take pictures of my install and post them (and the difference in light) when I'm done.
Iamlost: where did you get the kit that you put in?
Thanks, Chris

I've been looking into HID's for a little while, and wonder if anyone has had issues with the light effecting oncoming traffic. Also, any problems with Police?

After looking further into HID conversions, I stumbled on this website. http://www.fet-usa.com/news_reviews.asp I would really like to find a solution for better lighting. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
