Welcome to the club. J.B.!

I've been "free" since 2001, and it is great - and even better when your (very large and prestigious) employer offers a generous early out.

I had great plans to extensively work on the Vette, but we are currently building a house on a clifftop overlooking the Potomac River instead. (Hence not many posts lately.) Should be finished soon, and then I think I may follow your footsteps and get a C6. Being your own general contractor is also a challenge - but fun as well.

I know this age of early buyouts has a ton of us guys enjoying the good life a few years earlier than originally planned..which makes it even more fun.!!

Enjoy that project.. I bet its going to turn out beautiful. Post some photos as we'd love to see them.

Happy holidays

JB

Love those early buyouts!! In 2002 my employer offered me an early out when I was 50 years old. They did not have to ask twice!! thumbsup

Mine wasn't a buy out. Following a series of re-orgs and consolidations, I had enough and declared I would be retiring. They were very generous in my departure and I have never looked back. Bottom-line, do it as early as you can as all this isn't a dress rehersal.

I need to find some place to post pics. Meantime, if you go here:
http://www.lindal.com/homes/gallery/classic/summit_star.cfm

and look at the house in the top right corner, that's what we are building. It's about 50' from a 200' limestone cliff down to the river with views for miles.

Retirement Rocks!! Went out the door in 2005 and haven't regetted it once. thumbsup My father retired at 55 and is now 86, so I figured that's 30+ years not wasted on a job.

I also applaud you on the retirement and the new house. 14 more years for me or so.

I retired back last december.. I've been keeping busy working with my 11 year old autistic son, teaching him how to read and write..and interact with others..

Its kind of cool that a year ago..he didn't even know other children existed at the various parks and now he's specifically wanting to go to the parks to play with the other children.. .

Its kind of exciting..

other than that? I've been working out at a health club trying to stay healthy.

Bought a new CTS AWD last month for the wifey and this month I just got the C6 z51 w/NPP exhaust..

I just got back from the gym a little while ago and afterward I sat outside the coffee shop enjoying the beautiful new C6..

I have to say I think I like this stock vehicle just the way the general made it even better than my modified C5 Z06...

I like the new car better.

I hope everyone has a great holiday and is thankful for all that we have to enjoy.

JB
