Any of you guys ever change over from the accordion style throttle body air duct to the smooth? If so, is the difference worth the $50. Eckler's charges. I'm about do have a tuner do an electronic tune, so I'm trying to find out if some of this after market stuff works. I guess I'm wondering why Chevy didn't do this in the beginning if it was so much better. Thanks for your opinion.

Go ahead and buy a complete Air intake system like K&N and you will get better performance all around. With K&N you get a larger and smoother throttle body and a air filter that breaths a hundred times better than stock.

Strictly for performance it's not worth $50 IMO, $25 maybe. If you're getting one of the colorful ones to spruce up the looks under the hood, then maybe $50, maybe.

I never heard of them before, but google found this site . Seems to have what you want for decent prices.

It makes sense, the more air in, the more air out. And, the more air in smoothly, the better.

I got one in my K&N kit, but would have gotten one if I went with a BlackWing.

Hey Bados did you get an air bridge too or just the coupler? What intake are you running KN or just the filter? Get a Blackwing before the tune you gotta let that engine breathe if you wanna go fast devilsmile

Honestly, I wasn't going to change over from my OEM air box. I thought the K & N insert filter was enough. I am thinking about a Blackwing now. Didn't do anything with the air bridge, leadfoot.

Bados, I just went to Blackwing from a twin cone and there is substantial improvement so from the stock air box it will be very much of an improvement. Wait until you do this to get your tune as it will change the air flow and mixture. At least talk to the tuner before you spend the money on the tune.
I bought mine used for $100 they are $275 new. They frequently pop up for sale used as folks turn their car in or go FI etc. If you want I will keep my eye out for one for a used one for you. They lterally last for ever so there really is no reason to buy new unless you gotta have it now. Regards, Joe

As I reread your posts on this I suggest a hi flow air bridge and the Blackwing. The car runs so much better because it breathes better. Remember them strips the foot ball players put on their beaks to breathe better same idea but better looking under the hood and most importantly kick ass performance.
