I've looked for this on seveveral sites without finding the answer..

Took my litle Red Vette to get the windows tinted today and went to pick it up and the guy had left the key on for several hours and the battery was dead as a door nail.. Its a new battery installed last December. The guy charged the battery for approx 45 mins., the car started and I left really pisxxed. mad On the way home I noticed the check engine light was on. When I got home I charged the battery completely and the check engine light is still on - no codes have popped up yet, the check engine light stays on steady - no blinking. Will this hurt anything and what do I need to do to get the light to go out??? confused

Got to be a code if the light is on? Probably related to the battery. It will need a really good charging. Do you know how to access the codes in the DIC? Press and hold the fuel top button while pressing the options button 4x's write down the codes and clear by pressing reset.
You could have a separate issue but it is probably the batt. best of Luck

If the light is on, you should have a code. The only way to turn it off manually is to get to the code on the DIC and reset it. Click here for the how to info.

Well I cleared the "check engine" light... Code C1236 which indicated a "Low System Sypply Voltage." So I think what happen was with the battery being "dead" and the guy charging it but not fully, it threw the code and the light came on. Like I said I charged the battery completely when I got it home and now that I cleared the code and the light went out "hopefully" that's all it was. Because it was running great until he killed the battery. Thank's to both of you I'm slowly learning a little more each day. I have the codes list printed out now - thanks Chewy.... Hey, and Leadfoot - you're always there.
