I am having extreme trouble locating the Halltech Stinger for my 2000. Do any of you guys know of a place?

If I recall correctly they stopped producing them. Grab a Blackwing they work great and you can find them used for cheap.

Have you heard of this product?
http://www.vararam.com/b2.html

It seems quite convincing. Rammed air instead of an under-hood setup.

The only problem with the vararam is that it makes the possibility of hydrolocking your engine a lot higher than it is now. If you ever drive through a deep puddle, there's a direct path from the ground to your intake.

If it rains in 'here', and you drive the vette in that rain, I might skip any force fed or bottom breathers.

If you only drive on sunny weekends with the top out, get whatever you want. However, NONE of the aftermarket setups deliver ALL of the HP gains they claim. Blackwing and the similar K&N setup seem to be best value if you can find them used (filters are easily cleaned).

Thanks you guys. I know that's right about the claims made about HP. I think i'm going with the hurricane from west coast corvettes.

The hurricane is a bottom feeder, too. Halltech stopped producing because of engine failures caused by their stinger. Go with a Blackwing it is safer and you wont be able to tell the difference between it's increase and a stinger but you will feel the price difference. Best of luck

How on earth can a replacement air cleaner cause an engine failure?
Let's face it that's pretty much all that Halltechs and Blackwings are.

In a high water situation some air intakes can suck water into the engine.

But... the Halltech, the Blackwing and the K&N all sit on top of the radiator intake airbox pretty much where the OEM unit sat. And all of them have exposed filter elements. The only issue I can see that could possibly affect them, would be if the water was so deep it surged in over the front bumper assy and under the hood edge. Then any and all of them would get soaked.

Anyway, going diving in a Vette seems a pretty silly thing to do....

As an aside re hp claims - K&N posts their dyno test results. The early c5's (pre 2001) show an 18 bhp gain. The newer cars only a 11bhp gain.

The Halltech TRIC was a bottom feeder-i have that setup, there is a cutout in the shroud and the filter is located between the front bumper and radiator and it is possible to suck in water if its too deep. I almost did-since I didnt know back then when I bought the VETTE and couldnt see how deep the water was due to darkness but was lucky enough to react quick and get out of it with no damage.........

Mine is a Stinger - and it fits on top of the shroud, hence my comments.

Halltech currently only lists the Venom intake for C5's, and it's only for 2001 and later cars.

A few places on the web claim to have Stingers - if you want one, you will need to contact them.
