A couple of years back I replaced the plastic motor gear with a brass one and it worked like a charm.

Now, the motor is opening and closing the light intermittently which is a different issue. I often have to turn on and off the headlights several times to get the headlight to open and occasionally it won’t open at all. When it opens there is no noise, unlike with the gear issue.

Someone thought it might be electrical, versus a motor issue.

Anyone have any answers..??

Thanks,

Mike

First check the battery it's charge and connections. There have been many reports of a new battery fixin this issue. Second would be the condition of the grounds right behind the headlights on the frame rail. Take them apart and look for corrosion, clean them with sand paper and I coat mine with that purple battery terminal spray.
Finally how is your multifunction switch. On the left of the steering column. They wear out and also suffer from corrosion. Does it take a couple of times before the lights respond? These can be rebuilt taken apart and cleaned and the tension restored. There are DIY posted for this procedure. Dr. Chewy can provide you with a link if you ask him.
Welcome and best of luck with the issue, you gotta have lights. I hope you hang out and post up as the forum enjoys new members, their questions experience and opinions. At least please let us know how the issue is resolved. Stay away from the dealership on this issue.

Is it both of them or just one side not opening?

If just one side, is the light on while closed?
