I have a 2000 corvette convertible. I had to take the battery out. After putting it back in, I when to start the car and the warning light came on that said to take the key out and wait ten seconds. I did that, and put the key back in-then it told me that the steering column was locked. This morning I check it again and it was ok. So I drove it to work. When I left work, it did it again. Can anybody help me with this problem? I believe it might be my chip in the key and the car is not recognizing it.

Battery is toast or the cables are not tight. Best of luck

I would definitely start with the battery. Make sure the cables are torqued to 11 ft lbs.
