Dont even check them or adjust as the coating will come off and effect life. They come pregapped. Be sure to only put a drop of oil on the threads no antiseize.

I get distilled water from the grocery store, preferably de-ionized if I can find it. Make sure you get more than you think you'll need to account for spillage.

Back to the spark plugs, I installed the AC Delco Iridums and made the mistake of gapping them to .060 inch. Then I read somebodies reply that they should be .040 inch. So I regapped them. But I started thinking, a common trick for hotrodders to gain power is to run a powerful ignition and run a wider plug gap.

By requiring a .040 gap, the implication is that the iridium plugs have more resistance and you might be giving up a bit of power for longer life. Does anybody disagree with this analysis?

The problem with adjusting the gap on iridium plugs is that you run a high risk of snapping off the tips. No idea on the 'more power' theory, but if GM says .040....

which tip ?
The center electrode or the side electrode ?

if you know how to gap a plug , you never touch the center electrode
