Hi all. I have a Torch red 01 conv, that gets about 17.4-18.5 mpg as a daily driver. About half that drive is interstate 55-65mph. I am looking at an ad from GForce that says I can improve mileage from 4-7 mpg, and maybe get 10 more hp. I dont care about the horsepower so much, but sure would like to improve the mileage!
The chip, stock #102270, is $69 and supposedly is a plug in/drive away install. Is this legit??
I already emailed them my concerns that after all the crap I had to go thru with the wife, (who likes the car but is still skeptical), I dont want to spend money on something that aint wot it sez! And I REALLY dont want to install it and have it turn the car into a boat anchor stuck in the driveway. Lemme know what you think please...the car is all bone-stock so far, Thanks in advance!
Mike

IMHO, GForce is a waste of money, as are most "chips". There are many ways to help improve mileage. Everything from how heavy a foot you have, to dirty air filters, type of gas, etc. cheers

Agree with Bubba Sparks chips are only good with dip.
Check your air filter is great advice. You could be running the one the Corvette came from the factory with.
Your instinct is right it could cause more problems.

I too am getting around 20mpg average and thats after I cleaned the Air Filter. Mine is also 2001 and 9 years later i dont expect to get 25mpg (sticker said 25 hwy-18 cty) so 20 is not too bad

I improved the mileage on my tow vehicle from about 4.5 mpg to over 6 (with basic tune up stuff). That's a 33 percent improvement. I also tried some fancy and expensive ignition modules that claimed great things and I don't think I noticed any improvemen afterward.

Tire pressure and alignment will help also. I picked up .25 mpg on a Silverado just aligning the front wheels. I have a severely neglected daily driver that when I do air up the tires, I notice several mpg improvement and it handles better, too.
