Recently I have noticed a minor amount of differential fluid on my garage floor. It appears to be coming from the drivers side of the casing. I have not put the car on lift yet, but was wondering if any one else has experienced this. It is almost like it is leaking from the differentials vent which is on the drivers side of the casing.

ANY THOUGHTS.

Sometimes the seals dry out, what year is the car? How many miles? I recently had my rear gears changed out and experienced the "dry out" syndrome, had to go back to the shop and have them replaced, I also remember my guy saying something about the vent overflowing or getting stuck or something, dont remember exactly. Gonna have to gt it off the ground to really see where it's coming from, good luck!

My last experience with leaking diff fluid turned out to be the filler plug loosened up and was allowing oil to seep out. I would check that first before I assumed it was a drive shaft seal.

My 2001 leaked a little early this summer but it has not happened in a couple of months now. So maybe the seals do need a bit of exercising to make them work again after a long layoff.

Yep in addition to seeping from the vent the seals can develop a "set" from sitting. This allows some fluid to pass the seal. A run of the Corvette should resolve the "set" and leak. I put a peice of cardboard under the rear to monitor.
