We have been corrected on the use of Dexron 6 in manual transmissions.
You should NOT use Dexron 6 in any manual transmission.
We have NOT been given any particular reason, however, the correct fluid number now is 88861800.
Any vehicle that previously required DEXRONŽ-III for a manual transmission should now use P/N 88861800. This fluid is labeled Manual Transmission and Transfer Case Fluid.

That's the same number that's in my '07 owners manual.

I think my 07' Escalade's have Dexron 6 in them, it really did not seem much different in the specs of the oil as to why it could not be used in the manual. confused

Interesting that my stick shift K1500 specifies GM Synchromesh fluid for the 5 speed (New Venture) tranny, and Dexron III for the transfer case. That is, two quite different lubes (and very different specs)for Manual Transmission and Transfer Case.

I am actually running Mobil 1 ATF in the transfer case and Royal Purple Synchromax in the 5 speed. Yes, I am a believer in synthetics but I would not buy GM's (or any other car manufacturer's, for that matter) part numbered lubes at marked up prices anyway. Let GM sell cars; let the oil companies sell oil.
