Just bought 2001 coupe with factory magnesium wheels. Front wheels have a few curb scars and need refinishing. One rear may need to be trued as it has a BUNCH of weight on it (6oz!)
I am trying to get everything back as close to showroom new as possible.
Wheel repair shops I've spoken with tell me I will lose the yellow "Magnesium" identification on the inside of the rim if I have them refinished. Right now I'd rather keep the scratches than lose the original Magnesium label. Replacement wheels are WAY too expensive to resolve this problem right now.
Any wheel shops (preferably near Dallas/Fort Worth) that can reproduce this label or do the work without damaging the existing ones?
If it's available as an aftermarket decal, that would be great, but I haven't found it yet.
Any ideas or info would be appreciated. cool

You should try out the guys at www.rimpro.com

Ask for Chris Troianello and tell him that Chris Lee ("Blue Lightning") sent you.

They have worked on those rims before and can do special work like you are asking for. It is at least worth it to ask them if they can do it. I can tell you they do awesome work. Sorry that they are not local to you though.

Good Luck!

I spoke with my friend Chris and he stated that they can replace all the stickers that are on the wheel and get them to be back to stock.

I don't know if you've called them, but he stated that they had a C5 magnesium rim in house that they were doing the exact thing you wanted done.

Just though you should know if you haven't called them yet.

Chris

Chris:
Thanks for your reply and follow up. I have not called them yet, but will now, after your last post.
I was even considering doing some digital pictures and Photoshop work to re-create my own stickers. I'm sure that would never look 100% right though.
I'll try to call them in the next few days and keep my fingers crossed for cheap shipping to Boston!
I'll probably continue trying to find someone closer to me for a while, but it's good knowing theres someone out there that can do what I need.
