A lot of C5 owners who went to the C6 love it.

Its quieter, it rides smoother, the interior is nicer, the overhangs are shorter, its got 400hp out of the factory and for 2008 its got 435.

Whats not to like?

If your thinking about which to get? I'd suggest the 2008 C6 with 430 hp and 5 year/100,000 mile warranty.

Good luck and if you decide to go for the C5 thats a great ride too...

I loved my C5, and hated to even think of selling it. After driving the C6 home from the museum, it wasn't very hard to sell the C5.

Just from a performance view, the '05-'07 Z51 C6 coupe is essentially identical to a Z06 C5, and now even better for '08.

Many who don't like the C6, IMO, don't like it because they say it's just a C5 1/2. They say there weren't any major improvements. As someone who's owned both, I can tell you that they just might be right. However, there are very few things in the C6 that don't have at least a little bit of improvement over the C5. Add all of those little things up, and the C6 is one kick azz car that will not be mistaken for a C5 by anyone who has driven both.

As far as looks, they are pretty close, but I've had more comments from complete strangers about my LMB C6 in the past 9 months than I had in 3 years of owning my Silver '01. Sure, the headlights don't pop up any more, but the C6 HID's are 1000% better at lighting up the road than the crappy OEM C5 headlights were.

Best advice I can give is this, buy what you WANT. Do all of the research that you need to, decide what options you must have, what color combos are acceptable, then don't settle for a car that doesn't meet your minimum requirements. When shopping for a C6 I couldn't find what I wanted on a lot that was east of the Mississippi River, so I ordered one. The wait was well worth it.

C5's are GREAT cars, and the C6 is just the slightly improved next generation. You'll be happy with either one as long as you do your research and get the car that you want.

cheers

I often think of ordering up a black Z51 A6 because the car just kicks some serious @ss!

I won't but I often think about it.

I hear guys are getting them for a grand under invoice which is pretty sharp.

Color and options are all personal choices that each have to decide for themselves so there is no right or wrong decisions...just personal ones..

With that said if you want a corvette with the best that chevrolet can deliver...

Just decide if you want the balls out 70 grand race car Z06 or the nearly as impressive 190 mph sports car priced in the forties and fifties.. dependant on options..

If it were me? i'd just go for the A6 and the Z51 combo and have a party for 42 grand.

The two cars are just too close to call with a 30 grand price differential.

Just my personal opinion.

With the roads so crowded today, unless you live in Montana or some other sparsely populated state, I don't see the logic in paying 30 grand for more power that you cant use. Kinda like paying a 50 dollar premium for a pen that writes in temps up to 500 degrees--whats the point???

Last week decided to visit the Chevy lot and drive some Vettes, again. Have to agree with JB. The A6/Z51 ($66,495) was had plenty of pop for the buck, compared to the Z06 ($90,495).

Note the prices...they don't deal here. no banghead

Both are awesome cars for the money. Sure the newest would be very nice but the best thing about my C5 is that it is paid for and mine!

Buy what you want and can afford...

Beauty is in the eye of ......... I'm sure everyone that drives a C-6 is happy with their choice. I still think that when the C-7 debuts, there will be a return to the flip up headlights and the car will hopefully have a more independent style to it so it won't be called the C-6 AND 1/2. In future years, it will probably be looked back on as an anomaly just like the "New Coke" was. JMHO

Hard call the C6 has a different feel to it if you ask me. THen again, i have a C5 without Z51 and a C6 with a Z51. that may what the difference is in the feel. IMHO. YOu cant go wrong with either one. Jst get one that matches your budget.

I have to agree with this too!

Paid cash and never looked back.

Been a party ever since.

Of course the new 430 C6 with Z51 and A6 would be sweet too.

Reminds me of the days when the LT1 was throwing down 300 hp and the ZR1 was at 385.

Could buy two LT1's for the price of a ZR1...

Hard sometimes to justify but still the ZR1 is the king...

Same with the C6 Z06 vs. C6 Z51 (especially with 435 hp for forty odd thousand dollars. )
