Would love to get feed back. I have a 98 vert with 37K and have had it a little over a year. It's in prestine condition however, I have issues with the suspension, squeeks that I can't seem to get rid of. Anyways I drove an 02 coupe with 21K and it was great, felt strong, quiet, Very good condition.

Question, assuming the car will cost me another 6-8 grand plus my car, am I getting my money's worth. The dealer said the suspension was so much better in the 02. What are the down sides and the pluses. Do coupes overall ride better, quieter, does the 4 years newer with better upgrades make a huge difference, and of course there is 16K miles difference.

I may have an opportunity for 98 coupe with 7K miles but if it drives the same as my vert I'd rather have an upgrade.

Appreciate the help, your advise and suggestions are welcome.

Jeff

I'd keep the 98, IMHO I don't think trading for the 02 would be worth the expense.

I'd keep the vert and fwiw..I'd buy a set of hankook non runflat Evo 12 tires. I threw them on my 08 C6 z51 and the ride transformed.

Not quite sure about the noises your hearing...but I had a 1999 C5 Z51 and when I put non runflat tires.. the ride improved dramatically..

Anyways...thats my best guess...

Cheaper than a new car...

I think my c6 size hankook tires....cost me 684 delivered from discount tire direct.com

Best of luck and keep your 98 convertible...

My 1999 Z51 especially when I put non runflat tires on them...really rode much nicer..

I'd upgrade the 98. Alot cheaper than the 02 and a vert to boot! First I'd upgrade the sway bars to C5z06 and get the metal end links. Next new shocks and like JB non run flat tires. If you still have the wagon wheels time for them to go in storage too. The C5 is basically the same car from 97 to 04. Some upgrades that all will bolt on any C5. Many of the C6 upgrades bolt on the C5. You dont drive the car enough to truely appreciate the great machine the C5 is. You have a very rare C5 as there weren't many produced in 98 and it is a vert. Did they make verts in 97?

Thanks guys, that's kind of where I was heading also. I do have non run flats on, only about 6K on them. I changed the end links the first of April and still get that annoying squeek. I can't duplicate it by bouncing the car up and down it's only at very low speeds when I'm going over uneven pavement, which is often in NE Ohio. If the suspension is set to sport it's not as bad, I'll check into shocks, there was a thread a little while ago that recommended a type of shock I'll check into. I agree I'd love to switch out the wagon wheels, I know there has been conversation about those before, any recommended sites are appreciated. And no they did not make the vert as a 97.

Thanks for the help guys, your opinions are valuable to me and my car.

37k is probably a bit early for the shocks to go, but I wouldn't put it past them. If you have the f45 the shocks are $$$$$, so consider other options, such as leadfoots set up. That's where I'm going when mine give up the ghost.

I was reluctant to buy aftermarket wheels due to quality and strength concerns. I bought wheels made in China from oewheels outta Sarasota Fla and although they aren't perfect they are dam better than I thought. Affordable and look great. They are C5 zo6 size so I get more grip. All told I am happy and would do it again and recommend it to my Bubba
As for the squeak it could be the sway bar bushings need a dab a grease

Keep the 98 and do the up grades. You can do alot for alot less than buying another Corvette. You have very low miles and your Corvette is just as good as the 2002. Don't need another note, right?

The 02 will come stock, with more HP and torque then the 98. However, you can come close to it by adding the LS6 intake manifold to it on your own.

01 and up had other engine changes to them from GM, to make my HP over the years and the intake was one of the GM changes.

Your 98's suspension can also be upgraded to Z06 if you wanted or Z51, easily.
