Barrett-Jackson: First 2009 Corvette ZR1 Sells at Auction for $1,000,000 The first 2009 Corvette ZR1 just sold here on big money day at the big BJ auction for $1,000,000 with a little help from GM's best bud, Jay Leno to Dave Ressler. Although the money's all going to the United Way, we're wondering what this'll mean for the mark-up on the sticker price we'll see for this already $99,000 two-seat supercar. And keep in mind we still don't know what the final number will end up being on horsepower and torque. But -- what we do know now is that the sticker price will be $99,000 -- thanks to the need to provide the above-and-beyond price for IRS purposes and the charitable deduction. But hey, maybe you'll still get that 100,000 mile guarantee on the powertrain -- even if you're buying #1 off the assembly line. Full description from the folks at Barrett-Jackson plus more on winning bidder Dave Ressler, main man at Ressler Chevrolet, below the jump.

I was watching that on Speed Channel. Really didn't seem like an auction, more of a presentation to Dave Ressler in exchange for a charitable contribution. He even raised his own "bid" from $900K.
It will be interesting to see how it affects the sale price of a ZR1.

Barret Jackson was kinda slow IMHO. Prices were down and there were some great cars but not like last year. Some really nice machines went for way cheap.

It's the economy...even the rich like to take money out of their houses to buy toys. There should be good bargains in the collector car arena for the next year or so for those with cash.

Did you see the ferrari auction on SPEED it was way cool. Especially hit me a near boomer that loved the cars from the early sixties. Talk about a great investment. If I could only find a way to live out of one. What an automobile company Ferrari.. Wouldn't want to have to fix one but wow what a car. The power plant and the body line pure heat and they have the specs in a binder at the plant for every car built each one all the specs not just the model year each cars technical specifications so they restore them to brand new condition and specification. Check it out it is super snob Barret-Jackson every car to die for or embessil for

Several dealers I have talked to believe they can get now OVER 100K over sticker due to the BJ auction, not getting it from me. Seeing the car in person makes me not like the carbon fiber roof (not a carbon fiber fan) and the plastic covered hole in the hood, is a little strange, the brakes look killer, like the rear spoiler, interior not much difference.

I just picked up a shifter from George at MGW over in Augusta. He told me that Dave Ressler is a fan of LeMans Blue, so GM is going to repaint his ZR-1, making it a one of a kind. Still not worth 7 figures if you ask me, but at least the guy has good taste in colors
