It is official. I now have more speeding tickets that I ever have before within a 24-month period.
6 total.
I am ashamed.
I bow my head in humiliation.
However, here's the very, very interesting part. I've never (not once) gotten nailed while making a high speed run outside of an official fully sanctioned event. In other words, every single one of those darn tickets came on the freeway with a posted speed of 65, where my top speed for the worst ticket was 81. All right, I'll admit that 81 in a 65, is pushing it a bit, but 81 in a C5 is like 40 for most others. You are not even aware of the speed unless you keep your HUD lit up all day.
I only use my HUD at night - may I should start using it during the day.
The others were speeds like 73, 76, 78 (twice) and get this - someone gave me a ticket for doing 70 in a 65! Talk about cheap shots! That took the cake.
It is hard driving a C5 at 65 mph constantly. You cannot always use the CC. Just one sneeze is all it takes and the car leaps to 120 mph. A simply twitch of the ankle and your instantly doing 170+! So, how on earth can you maintain 65. It is a physical impossibility.
So, I'm driving in the slow lane at least until summer when I can get back to the track. In my state, a 6-time offender within a 24-month period gets their license suspended for 6 months. Because I promised to never speed again (

), I was slapped on the wrists and given no suspension, no probation and no record - other than my ticket points, which will drop anyway after 36 months.
I talked with my insurance company about the matter and they said that given my clean record with them for over 17 years, they would overlook this incident. Prior to getting this car I had one speeding ticket in 13 years and one No U-Turn ticket back in my Freshman year in College. I was clearly a model driver - almost a perfect record.
Now, look at me. I'm an runaway convict heading for the green mile at over 170!

Well, sh!t they told me to "drive it like I stole it!" And, that is exactly what I did!
I knew that buying this car would be more expensive that advertised.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. What's your excuse. If you are posting from Jail, we understand -
