Unless you have access to a racetrack or the autobahn, videogames are the safest place to push a car. What fave games do you play now, or have played in the past growing up? Pole Position was the king of simulators. cool

Pole Position for me but I really did not like many others until I got older. San Fancisco Rush and Driver for the PS1, I really dug those! In the arcade, Dayaton USA was the one I really liked.

However I am still old school and just picked up an arcade Asteroids machine to restore. Talk about going back, B&W TV screen!

In one flashback episode of The Simpsons, Homer is playing Asteroids, lol.

The infamous 1976 arcade game Death Race, based on the 1975 Roger Corman directed 1975 movie Death Race 2000 starring David Carradine & Sylvester Stallone. You race around, knock over/kill pedestrians and pick up points. Parents had the game banned! But we can enjoy it now. 1976, the future has arrived! laugh BTW there's a good modified C3 Corvette in this film. cool

Pole Position I remember well. Sucked up a lot of quarters in college.

My favorite computer game was Grand Prix Legends. I bought a Logitech weel to play. One of the tracks is Lime Rock, where I have driven. My time on the computer was pretty close to what I did on the track. And a lot cheaper. LOL

The original Asteroids arcade game was b/w, but used "Vector Graphics" which gave that fortune telling 8 ball 3D look. In the early '80s there was a home console called Vectrex that used Vector graphics.

Vectrex console

If you have seen the episode on Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson tried to match his Gran Turismo Honda NSX time on the real Laguna Seca, and failed, lol.

In the style of Pac Man, another top down 2D maze game from Namco via Midway. 1980 Rally-X, squirt oil and release smoke to foil chasing cars, and fool 'em into crashing into each other. I tell you, it was exciting. devilwink

Back when my son was 12 or so we had a NASCAR racing game that had all of the tracks etc, you'd have to set the car up for each different track. It had a steering wheel and pedel set up that you'd have to hook up to the computer. It was a lot of fun.

I don't own anything, myself, but a friend of mine has an XBox hooked up to a projection TV with a 10" screen. He had it up and running for a party with the guests trying to beat his wife's lap time of Sebring in an Audi R8. I have a bit of time on Sebring and I have no trouble beating his wife in a real car, but I had to work to beat her target time. I would love to have a set up like that.
