Hi Guys,
As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been around much of late. At the beginning of the year my Mom was diagnosed with stomach cancer. She started chemo last month and has been responding really well so far. Hopefully, that will continue for a long while. Obviously, taking her to doctors, tests, and treatments has been taking a lot of my time. While that will continue, I hope to pop in here more often.

Make sure you take some time to take care of yourself from time to time...Its an important long term strategy.

Bruce, good for you for taking care of your Mom. I had my Mom live with us for 5 years until the demencia got so bad, I had to move her to a nursing home where she got round the clock help. When we were kids, our Mom took care of us, now it's time to reciprocate. Best of luck to your Mom. We miss you here. Stay in touch from time to time and let us know how she is doing. Ken

My prayers are with you and your mom. im sure all will turn out ok , i lost my dad 1 1/2 years today and i still wish he was here so keep her close and show her losts of love. we will all be fine here

I spent a looooong weekend with my Mom a few weeks ago. She has an amazing ability to push my buttons (probably payback for my teenage years), but I sure will miss her when she's gone.

Even if you're together for unpleasant reasons, take advantage of the time you spend with her while you can.

Thanks for everything guys. I went through something similar with my Dad (heart condition) a few years ago. It's tough to do once. It sucks having to do it again.

Unfortunately, no matter how good things are, there is little chance she'll be in remission, let alone cured. Hopefully it will be a long battle. One she is winning right now. And doing better than the doctors expected. The doctors readily admit they really don't know how well she'll respond or how long to the chemo. Just take it one day, week, month at a time.

Hang in there. It's tough but I took care of both my Mom and Dad until the end and I don't have any regrets or wish I would have done anything any different.

Both of my parents have gone to heaven and recently my oldest brother. Looking back the time you can spend with family is so very important for them and for you. This is tough stuff to deal with my thoughts and prayers are with your MOM and with you. It is great to see you posting. Joe
