Press reports are that Chevy will take over the G8, maybe called a Caprice. Meanwhile, Vauxhall (GM's UK operation before it got sold along with Opel) sell the raw Aussie VXR (no restyling or anything) and now they have a "hot" version - the Bathurst edition, named after the famous Australian track. This car has the regular 430 hp Corvette engine replaced with the 560 bhp supercharged engine from the CTS-V, along with suspension tweaks.

Makes me want to buy a Chev sedan....

At least we can rest assured that if BO and Gov't Motors only start making green cars with tiny little electric engines we can still import a car with an american V-8 in it wink

I drove the G8 GT and it was a hell of a car. I really got the feeling it was truly a four door corvette.

For the pricing that I saw and recently it had 72 month zero percent financing...

It was a slam dunk.

It should be a chevelle SS and not even bother with the six cylinder version...(which was slow to sell)

For mid to high twenties new? with 72 month zero percent financing...Throw in a few grand in GM bonus points and you really got a smokin deal.

If I were in the market for a four door sedan with some b@lls..

thats the car I would buy and one I would highly recommend.

Good to see GM wise up and at least consider bringing that car in as a chevy.

Update thats not so cool:

GM CEO Henderson: "Bob Lutz Says A Lot Of Things, But He Works For Me"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote:
When Autoblog asked GM CEO Fritz Henderson about Bob Lutz's comments on the G8 becoming a new Chevy Caprice, his response was much different than what he gave when asked the same question later by two print journalists.

The comment he gave Autoblog? "We've been looking at it for police applications. As for whether or not it's broader than police applications, I am not a believer in re-branding and re-badging. We've been talking about in terms of potential police applications and we'll leave it at that."

Then, to the two print journalists, his comment was: "No. It's not going to happen." Then, when pressed for a specific comment about "Maximum" Bob's remarks, Henderson retorted in his best "I'm the decider" voice: "Bob Lutz says a lot of things, but he works for me." Awesome. Way to tell off Bob for straying off the reservation.

Now that's a scream! GM saying they're not a believer in re-branding and re-badging! They've done that over and over for years! lol

Your right its a ridiculous statement...especially from GM..

In my opinion...its probably got more to do with GM's lawyers saying ....no rebadging during the controversial closing of pontiac.

The dealers have so many lawyers working to find a loop hole to nail the "new GM" I would n't be surprised if thats why Fritz is so adament (sp) about the death of the G8..

It's sad really, the only GM cars (except for the Vette) I have ever seriously considered buying were/are all Pontiacs - the last version of the unfortunately named GTO, the G8 GXP, and maybe the Solstice if they gave it more power.

No interest at all in Buicks - I may be retired but I am not over the hill yet, so no stick shift, no sale is my rule. And I want a suspension system that works instead of floats. The CTS-V is a nice idea, but I do find the styling just too "in your face". Better than my wife - she just thinks it's ugly, so it's a non starter.

But that UK version of the Holden/G8 would get me into a GM dealer in a heartbeat.

Just one person's opinion.
