Quite honestly I am a bit surprised by Big Ed's step down...

For a while there I thought after firing the last CEO Ed was going to have each and every position of authority at GM..

To see him step down now after announcing profits......I'd say he might have had an arguement with someone on the board or the government...(as to the degree of the upcoming IPO) Too soon...too much of the company...)

I believe the democrats need to show a profit for its investment in the auto companies...or at the very least a complete pullout of involvement...for the upcoming election...

I think the Dems view GM's success as a hugh issue in the upcoming elections! I'd have to say that with all of this GM "Success" I am surprised that Whitacre is leaving too.
