Ok....

I just left a club...got out about 60 feet. It downshifted exTREMELY hard to first coming to the light(almost like someone hit the brakes). Went to hit the gas, nothing happened, slipped bigtime. Let it sit a second, business as usual. No chattering or anything unusual(other than it NOT moving ). I didn't push it on the way home..but will say it drove normally and locked up and all that stuff(TCC). I didn't hear the infamous 700R Failure whine(We spoke on that, too late when you hear it) and the fluid is ehh...not blood red and it's hard to tell if it smells burnt due to the pro torque requiring an additive(sort of like the friction modifier in rears).

So... tell me your thoughts. Did I dodge a bullet? or is it on the way out. 21000 hard hard miles isn't all that bad I guess.

Thanks!

JD

Hi JD,
Possible that you dodged a bullet, as long as you have proper fluid level, I would say I would just do a preliminary check of the governor, located in the tailshaft.
Remember, that the governor is the biggest shift input that you have. If, for some reason, the teeth of the governor has chipped or worn, then, if the governor slipped, it would do this.
Then, when the governor caught, it would go back to normal.
I would check on this first, just let me know if it happens again.
Besttoyou, c4c5 hammer

Thank you for replying. I am having it checked by my tranny guy tuesday. He warned NOT to drive it until then to avoid grenading the whole thing.

I don't know what you feel...but I think over 20K behind this engine is pretty good mileage.

Appreciate your response...and I'll keep you updated.

Hi JD,
Yes, Ido agree that 20k is excellent, especially with the motor that you have.
As for what happened, I am sure you will be fine, and I will be watching with interest.
Take care, and I will be at the shop all day Sat.

Hi Paul...

The two Rossler units done by LPE, didn't even last 5000 miles(each, yes I went through two)I think the failure was partially assisted by an overly LOOSE converter.

I'll keep you informed when it's 100% and we'll get in touch.

THANKS AGAIN.

Just an update... I truly think that car has a mind of it's own! laugh it drove to the tranny shop PERFECTLY yesterday. They are going to dump the fluid and look for shavings and per C4C5's advice check the governor along with the rest of the trans.

Hopefully it's minor,as I am greatly looking forward to RACING, not fixing this year!
