I have a 1982 crossfire engine.

I need to put a new cam in it.

What is the best overall cam????????

I want bigger than stock, but I don't want it to load up driving around town.

AND, is there anything else I need to do to the engine to make it run better???????????

I put a 3:42 ratio rearend in it. That made a huge differance. It had a 2:92 ratio in it.

No offense, but I've heard that the Cross Fire is best used as a boat anchor. If originality is not a concern, I might consider selling the engine to someone who needs an original engine for a restoration, and then buying a crate engine with the advertised hp you're looking for. The intake and heads on the Cross Fire are so restrictive that you'll have to replace them to get good power, which means you are no longer original.

But, if you still want to do a cam swap, one of the cam marketers like Energy could probably recommend one.

I knew someone was going to get mad at me for saying that.

Not mad at all my friend! Look at the little guy on the boat. He has a Martini and celebrates. Actually, I like the ‘boat anchor’ analogy. That’s funny. First time I ear that.

I still believe that the crossfire is good engine thought.
