Is the C7 due to be released in the spring of 2013 ? If so, not sure I can wait that long.

I know no one know for sure, but is this the date that everyone is hearing ?

I heard april 2013 it will release possibly at the NY autoshow but with the bankrupcy etc...its hard to say what the timeline will be ..

Stan....buying a preowned c6 or a c5 to hold you over is never a bad thing and the prices have fallen quite dramatically... (for the c6 especially)

I don't anticipate the release date to be april of 2013 as far as for sale to the public..

Consider a CTS V coupe.. thats one bad @ss ride..IMO

JB, thanks, but I already own a 01 C5. If we are 3 years or so away from the C7, then maybe I'll pick up a new C6 next spring.

I looked at the CTS on the web site and it does look interesting. BUT, I'm still a Vette guy and will probably die this way.

Google C7 Corvette and hit images. Go to the sixth picture from the left on the top row. This is the best looking contender I've seen yet.

Looking for a little input. As I said, I currently own a 01 and waiting to buy a C7. From my experience, buying the 1st model year is always risky. There always seems to be something that needs to be corrected and there is never enough time to add some of the upgrades that you find in the 2nd model year production.

Based on this, how many of you would actually buy the 1st year C7 ?

I'm not buying a first year c7! 1. I love my 2008 c6 z51 too much and 2....they usually get a premium the first year.. wink

2013 seems to be the year the towanda V8 Engine plant starts production in february 2013...but you never know...GM might launch the C7 with the present LS3, LS9 and maybe even an LSA powerplant...

GM has done this in the past so you never know. I do know that Dan the man in charge of GM right now is hot to launch new products..

I would safe a safe bet is 2013 calendar year for the new V8 and the new car...

3rd year is usually a safe bet for all the bugs being worked out.

I would mention that I bought a new 2008 Cadillac CTS AWD with 304hp and its been flawless. I ordered in 2007 before they even hit most dealerships so it was an early example and its been without any issues whatsoever..

For those that get a C7 as it releases it will I am sure be an awesome car and I think at this point in time...the car will release without issues..

I believe the C7 is more an extended evolution of the c5 most own here as well as the C6..

200 lbs lighter...a little shorter in length..and of course a much improved interior and all the technical doodads that consumers seem to be after..

I personally could give two craps about the interior or the electronic doodads that so many are clamoring for.

Just offer up a dual clutch transmission and I'd be strongly considering a new C7..

If not? Then I'll probably just keep my 190 mph zero to 60 in 4.1 second bone stock C6...

Of course by that time....I might decide in the second year of C7 production if there is no dual clutch in sight...to slap a edlebrock supercharger for 8 grand and make this my next project...

But Im holding fast to keeping it stock till then. I have hope that GM will offer up a dual clutch transmission along with launch control and an advanced active handling system much like what we see in the ZR1.

Just shooting the breeze..but I suggest holding onto your 2001 C5 for another year...at the least. I believe the C7 will be shown by that time and you will see some of the specifications..

Stan..I have a C6 and its a great car...but I don't love it like I did my C5...Hold off for the C7 photo and show release which could be sooner than we originally thought..

GM's on a tear and with corvette production at 12,000 annual units last year...I think the C7 is coming sooner rather than later..

Like I mentioned...the c6 is a nice sports car...but not that much so that I would recommend selling a perfectly good C5 for.. I hope you can appreciate my honesty....(its not a flame to the C6 at all....but the C6 is really just a c5.5 if you get my drift..and not worth the extra coin especially if the c7 is around the corner..

If I'm wrong and the C7 isn't all that? So preowned C6 prices will fall a bit lower anyway because the new model is out..

You win either way by waiting...IMO

JB

Does this set your blood to a high boil? This clearly is an example of what Car and Driver sees as the next corvette..

I love it!

Now it just needs 470hp, 3200 lb curb weight and a Dual clutch transmission..

Very nice, but the jury is out on the look of the tail. Looks a bit like the front of the Batmobile from the rear.

GM never allows magazines full disclosure so they do nonsense like the back of the car to throw everyone off..

This new C7 will be awesome.

I'll vote for not liking the rear of that concept either.
