Had some fun today and went for a drive in a 2009 beautiful black C6 automatic owned by a very nice and very young looking 70 year old gentleman..

Automatic, American racing headers, billy boat m2W type exhaust... 3.42 rear gears, edlebrock supercharger with 545rwhp which I think translates (with 20 percent loss factor) to around 680hp..

Besides the beautiful stock OEM look...and drive..the thing was a beast ...Really fast and a lot of fun..

It was installed by corvettes of westchester and the gentleman who owned the car also had Pfat (SP) coil overs installed to lower the car an inch...

Really very OEM like in drivability and feel.

I was impressed..

It happened it looked exactly like my car but even cleaner. The car was immaculate..the installation and reliability according to the owner was above reproach...

The owner was really just a nice gentleman who wanted a little extra omph when he hit the gas. He is not a race driver etc and I have to say the OEM like kit really exceeded his expectations.

Very very nice setup. One I highly recommend to anyone in the area of corvettes of westchester..(20 minutes north of manhattan)

Yes he does!

What a package..it was so clean...so OEM like in appearance and design.. the reliablity and the maintaince schedules are just like stock...

The young 70 year old gentleman I met who had this installed in his car for a few months really has been impressed with not only the speed, acceleration and overall capability of the vehicle but also the OEM like reliability and packaging..

We talked..we had a good time as we drove..

It really is a package for guys who aren't racing (although it could easily be a race car) but rather those who want to go out and once in awhile hammer the trottle and scare ourselves silly!

IT was a A ticket ride for sure.

This was over at CoW Corvettes of westchester and I have been impressed with the low key...low pressure introduction or should I say re introduction to the possiblity of improving the hp and peformance of our already extremely fast vehicles..

I'm holding myself back for as long as humanly possible...and I just thought I'd report back to you guys how impressive this Edelbrock kit installed in my opiinion..

its engineered to last 100k miles as opposed to some other high performance applications or kits that require continual babysitting...(which I don't want to get involved with even if they make even more hp)

I'm over 50 and I just want to have a few extra laughs..

550..600 or in this case 680 hp was totally cracking me up and the owner seems to be truly in love with what he has been able to purchase..

but like I said...I'm holding myself back!!! LOL

Love it! This makes any C6 compete with the big dog Zo6 even the ZR1. Need to upgrade brakes and some othere stuff but when all done can buy a truck with the left over cash. Love the reliability of the eldebrock. What is the turn key cost? When will a C5 compatible blower kit be ready? Shouldn't take much adaptation. What a blast slap one of these on your C5 and smoke a C6Z and scare the tits off a ZR1 owner that paid north of 100k.. Thanks for the post JB. This is cool stuff and makes a bunch of early C6's very attractive. We want one for the C5 or for the GrandSport....smokin hot

I think Lingenfelter was advertising 8100 installed for the kit.

Not the least expensive and not the highest horsepower but it hopefully offers the best reliability and capability to be used as a daily driver.

Less than a year away and we'll see the C7! Might make sense to wait before making a big investment like this though..

I like my C6...I loved my c5...and I'm looking forward to seeing what the C7 offers up.

Yep, the timing of things Corvette is very interesting. Is it wise to purchase a C6 prior to the release of the C7? I think not. If the C7 is a smash hit and everyone wants to ditch their C6 and jump in then the C6 prices will tank. Buy prior to the release and you could regret it. The C5 has stabilized if not gained in pricing. Not many available cause the C5 is a keeper.
The C7 spy shots that are out look funny with a looong front end.
Something about a "factory supercharger" that being reliability. Way better than cam and head attempts at power increase.

I have been waiting for the new C-7 and frankly I'm getting a bad feeling it won't be anything like the concepts that have been popping up.I may just buy the GS I want this fall.

I'm in pretty much the same boat. I plan on waiting for the C7 before I get a new car, but the GS is just SO tempting

Yep that GS is HOT! Might have many leftovers at the end of the 2012 run. It has all the hotness of the C6Z with the ability to roof off! The flares of the fenders they got just right.. It is an awesome Corvette. I like the way they did the chrome wheels, too. Now which is the hotest color.? I am stuck on the red. How about you?

My favorite C6 color is still the one in my garage, LeMans Blue

Not that I've spent too much time thinking about it, but IF I were to order a new one, I think I'd have to go with....

3LT GS Coupe

Torch Red with black stripes

Two-Tone titanium/ebony interior

6-Speed

NPP Exhaust

Comp Gray wheels

Transparent top

Black Headlights

GM Supplier price just under $60k

Yes red is the hottness! Chewy let's order 2 but I like the chrome wheels and the solid top. I think 3lt provides the 2 top option. For under 60k it is a kick ass deal. I bet sales slow down as the C7 release approaches so price should go low and incentives increase.

I too, am getting the feeling that the new C7 won't be like the concept. In fear of being dissappointed, and over-spending on the inevitable dealer mark-up that will no doubt come with the C7 the first few months... I bought a used C6 Z.
